Report: Rockets Willing to Offer Alperen Sengun for Giannis, Bucks Prefer Jalen Green Package

According to NBC Sports’ NBA insider Kurt Helin, the Houston Rockets have emerged as a legitimate suitor for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo — and they’re willing to include rising star Alperen Sengun in a potential blockbuster deal.

However, sources indicate that the Milwaukee Bucks might prefer a trade package centered around dynamic guard Jalen Green instead.

Why Houston Makes Sense for Giannis

The Rockets finished this season as the No. 2 seed in the West, powered by one of the league’s top defensive units. But their playoff run exposed a glaring need for a go-to offensive star, especially in the half-court. Giannis would fill that void immediately while preserving Houston’s elite defensive identity. His ability to dominate in transition and create offense inside the arc would perfectly complement the Rockets’ young core and fast-paced system.

How a Deal Could Work

Houston has the trade flexibility to construct a competitive offer. In addition to Sengun or Green, forward Jabari Smith Jr. is expected to be involved in any serious discussions. The Rockets also hold a war chest of future first-round picks — their own, plus selections from the Nets, Suns, and others — giving them the kind of draft capital Milwaukee would require in a deal of this magnitude.

League insiders told NBC Sports that while the Rockets would consider parting with Sengun, the Bucks are reportedly more interested in Green as the centerpiece, depending on how their front office evaluates the young guard’s long-term upside.

Potential Third Team Involvement

To make the salaries work and sweeten the overall deal, a third team might be necessary, but league sources say the framework is “very doable” should both sides engage seriously this summer.
