Timberwolves fan media: Don’t rush the 37-year-old Curry back — to avoid repeating Durant’s tragedy.
Western Conference Semifinals Game 4: The Warriors lost on the road to the Timberwolves 110-117, falling behind 1-3 in the series.
In this game, Stephen Curry remained sidelined due to a leg strain. Timberwolves fan media Wolves Lead posted the following message about Curry:
“I keep seeing fans saying that Curry needs to come back as soon as possible to help the Warriors.
Regardless of whether I'm a Timberwolves fan or not, I don’t think that’s the right decision.
Warriors fans surely remember how Kevin Durant rushed back from a calf injury in the Finals against the Raptors. The Warriors were down 1-3 at that time, and Durant tore his Achilles on the same leg within two quarters of returning.
Curry’s injury is definitely tricky. But I sincerely hope they don’t rush him back, to avoid a repeat of that tragedy—especially now that he’s 37 years old.”
In Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals (when the Warriors were trailing the Raptors 1-3), Durant returned while injured, ultimately tearing his Achilles. The Warriors lost the series 2-4 and missed out on a three-peat.
